How Total THC is calculated

Two figures are reported. The as-tested total is the direct sum of THCA and Δ9-THC as measured in the raw flower. The activated (decarboxylated) total applies the standard 0.877 conversion factor to THCA — reflecting the THC available after the flower is heated or processed — using the formula Total THC = (THCA × 0.877) + Δ9-THC. Both describe the same flower; they differ only in whether THCA is counted before or after activation.

The Antioquia terroir

Cultivated where the
mountain does the work.

There is a reason MedCana's flower keeps testing the way it does. The farm sits at 2,120 m (6,960 ft) in the Antioquia highlands, on the equator. At that altitude the ultraviolet light is intense and unfiltered — and UV stress is one of the strongest natural triggers a cannabis plant has for laying down trichomes and the terpenes and cannabinoids they hold. The mountain wind, the wide day-to-night temperature swing, the stable equatorial light cycle: every one of these is a gentle, constant stressor that the plant answers by producing more resin.

This is terroir, in the sense a vineyard would understand it — and it is not a one-off. Across six consecutive crops, the same site has produced flower with consistently dense trichome coverage and consistently high terpene expression. Consistency is the hard part. Anyone can get one good harvest; reproducing it cycle after cycle is what separates a place from a fluke.

Industry reference points. Most commercial cannabis tests at 1–2% total terpenes; 2–4% is considered high quality and 4–6% premium grade, with levels above 4% described across the industry as rare. Both MedCana cultivars land at the top of that range.

Put plainly: MedCana is producing premium-tier terpene flower from a greenhouse, at a cost structure most growers can only reach indoors — and reaching it consistently, crop after crop, because the conditions that drive it are the climate itself, not a setting on a panel. That is difficult to replicate anywhere else in the world, because it is not a technique. It is a place.

Therapeutic categories

Why pharmaceutical-grade
cannabis matters.

The clinical applications below drive demand for the kind of standardized, traceable, audit-ready product MedCana produces. We don't make medical claims about our genetics — we make sure they meet the spec a clinical supply chain requires.

  • Cachexia Appetite stimulation in cancer and HIV/AIDS patients
  • Pain & sleep Symptom support during cancer treatment
  • Crohn's & ulcerative colitis Reduction of gut inflammation
  • Rheumatoid arthritis Immune-response modulation
  • Lupus & psoriasis Anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects

Endocrine & metabolic

  • Diabetes Potential to regulate insulin sensitivity (research active)
  • Obesity Appetite-regulating cannabinoid research ongoing

Pediatric (highly regulated)

  • Seizure control Application in rare genetic seizure disorders
  • Behavioral modulation Under controlled clinical protocols

MedCana does not market its products as treatments for any specific condition. The categories above describe areas where pharmaceutical-grade cannabis is being investigated and prescribed by licensed clinicians.

We also build the system
that grows it.

Eko2o Engineering S.A.S. is MedCana's agrotech company. It engineers the greenhouses, irrigation, and environmental-control systems that run our own farms — and installs the same systems for outside cannabis and agricultural operators.
